Nature for Nature / You / Society

Explore, Imagine, Score and Share ideas for Greener, more Biodiversity Friendly cities

Why are we doing this?

Urban biodiversity matters for climate resilience and quality of life. We invite you to share your ideas, score your neighbourhood’s biodiversity, and help planners design better Nature-based Solutions (NbS). Together, we bridge community knowledge and urban nature.

See how you can participate

(Step 1) Score the Biodiversity

Take a photo of a public space where you stand. Rate its biodiversity and how you use it.

(Step 2) Try AR Scenario

Use our AR tool to add trees, flowers, or habitats to real places. Visualise your ideas.

(Step 3) Share your idea

Tell us your AR experience. Your input helps planners and policymakers design better green spaces.

The research behind it

This research forms part of the EU-funded C-NEWTRAL project, which seeks to advance data-driven approaches for supporting participatory planning and implementing Nature-based Solutions (NbS). The overarching aim is to investigate how digital tools, specifically a mobile and web-based application integrating Augmented Reality (AR) and biodiversity scoring, can facilitate meaningful citizen engagement in urban biodiversity enhancement and how these bottom-up insights can be effectively integrated into top-down urban planning and policy-making processes.

This platform is part of the C-NEWTRAL project, led by University College Dublin in collaboration with Heidelberg University, Queen’s University Belfast, the University of Helsinki, the University of Bologna, and the University of Girona. It explores how digital tools can bridge citizen input with policy and planning to advance climate-neutral cities.
